1Berita Englsih – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin views the collision between the Turangga Train and the Bandung Raya Commuter Line (KRL) in Cicalengka, West Java, as a truly fatal incident that should never have occurred.
“That’s something that, in my opinion, should not have happened. It’s truly, in my view, fatal. Because in the future, we really need to be more careful. This involves human lives and, of course, other losses,” said Ma’ruf at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta, as seen in a video on the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia’s YouTube channel on Friday (1/5).
Ma’ruf considers the train accident an undesirable event for everyone. He suspects there may be technical or regulatory issues that caused a distortion leading to the collision.
“On the road, there are no boundaries, but with trains, there are tracks, and the regulation of those tracks is crucial. It means there is something unsynchronized in the regulation that caused the collision,” he stated.
Therefore, he urges a thorough examination and correction of where the mistake lies to understand how the collision occurred. If the fault is human error, he insists on identifying those responsible for the incident.
“It may need correction to determine whether it was human error or a technical regulation issue. We need to find out where the mistake lies,” Ma’ruf emphasized.
Previously, an incident occurred involving a collision between the Turangga Train and the Bandung Raya Commuter Line (KRL) in Cicalengka on Friday morning (1/5). The accident resulted in four fatalities and disrupted train traffic. Due to the disruption, PT KAI (Indonesian Railway Company) canceled nine train journeys.
