1Berita NewsVenezuela and Colombia Support Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s Criticism of Israeli Aggression in Gaza.

During a television program on Monday (2/19), Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro likened Israel’s actions in Gaza to those of Nazi Germany in the past. This echoes statements made by Lula during a meeting of the African Union some time ago.

“As President Lula stated at the African Union meeting, what the Israeli government is doing is the same as what Hitler did to the Jews,” Maduro said, as quoted by Anadolu Agency.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro also agreed with Lula’s statement.

“I express my full solidarity with President Lula of Brazil. In Gaza, there is genocide, and thousands of children, women, and elderly civilians are killed cowardly,” Petro said.

The statements of these two leaders follow Lula’s remarks last week comparing the Gaza conflict to Adolf Hitler’s campaign to annihilate the Jews.

“What is happening in the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian people has never happened at any other time in history. In fact, it happened when Hitler decided to kill the Jews,” he told reporters.

Lula’s statement prompted a response from the Israeli government. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office declared Lula “persona non grata” until he retracts his statement.

On Monday, Lula finally recalled Brazil’s ambassador to Israel, Frederico Meyer. The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated that they would summon Israel’s Ambassador to Brazil, Daniel Zonshine, for a meeting in Rio de Janeiro.

Israeli aggression in Gaza has so far claimed the lives of more than 29,000 people. The majority of the victims are children and women.
