1Berita English – Ukraine accuses Russia of bombing the city of Kharkiv using North Korean missiles for the first time during the invasion last week.

Dmytro Chubenko, a spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office in Ukraine, stated that the missiles were visually and technically different from Russian models.

“The production methods are not very modern. There are deviations from the Iskander missile standards that we previously observed when attacking Kharkiv,” said Chubenko, quoted by Reuters on Saturday (1/6).

He then mentioned, “These missiles resemble one of North Korea’s missiles.”

Chubenko then showed missile fragments to the media.

Furthermore, he explained that the missile’s diameter is slightly larger than that of Russian Iskander missiles.

Not only that, Chubenko pointed out that the missile’s tip, internal electrical rolls, and its back are also different.

“That’s why we tend to lean towards the version that this might be a missile supplied by North Korea,” he said again.

Chubenko refused to provide the exact model name of the missile.

Russia attacked Kharkiv with several missiles this week. As a result of the attack, two people were killed, and more than 60 people were injured.

Weapon supplies from North Korea to Russia have been rumored since last year. This aid was even said to be discussed during the meeting between President Vladimir Putin and leader Kim Jong Un in Vostochny in September 2023.

The issue of North Korea providing weapons to Russia arose after the invasion had been ongoing for almost two years.

Recently, Russia has not achieved a significant victory, and the same goes for Ukraine.
