1Berita.com – Turkey Captures 34 Suspected Israeli Spies, Mossad. The news was conveyed by several Turkish security sources on Tuesday (2/1).
The suspects are believed to be involved in espionage, surveillance, attacks, and kidnappings in Turkey on behalf of Mossad. Reuters reported that these dozens of Israeli spy suspects are believed to target Palestinian residents living in Turkey, including some officials and members of Hamas.
A senior Turkish official told Reuters that these suspects spread fake news and disinformation, engaged in robbery, and even extortion at the behest of Mossad Israel.
He also mentioned that Mossad recruits agents in Turkey by targeting Turkish citizens.
“The Israeli Intelligence Agency recruits personnel for actions against Palestinians living in our country and their families,” the official said.
Dozens of these alleged Israeli spies were successfully captured after Turkish authorities conducted simultaneous raids at 57 locations in 8 provinces.
Authorities are still pursuing the other 13 suspects, as reported by Anadolu Agency.
According to the Turkish official, Mossad uses social media to make contact and employs encrypted messages to maintain communication with their contacts.
This arrest followed an investigation by the Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Bureau of the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office, focusing on international espionage or spying.
The arrest also occurred amid the ongoing Israel vs. Hamas conflict in the Gaza Strip since October 7.
Turkish officials have warned Israel of “serious consequences” if Zionists attempt to pursue members of Hamas living outside Palestinian territories, including Turkey.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Israel would be making a mistake if they dared to take such actions.
Unlike Western countries, Turkey does not label Hamas as a terrorist organization. Similar to Malaysia, Turkey defends the actions of Hamas, which are seen as efforts to defend their territory in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
