1Berita – KRL Commuter Line Bandung Raya collides with Turangga Train in Cicalengka on Friday (5/1) morning. Train carriages overturned and broken.
The news was revealed through a post on the @infomitigasi account on X. The account shared photos of the damaged train off the tracks.
“A train accident occurred this morning, a collision between Turangga Train heading to Bandung and a Commuter Line train in the Haurpugur-Cicalengka section,” tweeted the account on Friday (5/1).
Several locals can be seen assessing the condition of the train. No passengers are visible inside the overturned and broken train carriages.
It is not yet known if there are passengers who have become victims in the KRL Commuter Line’s collision with Turangga Train in Cicalengka. However, the account mentioned that the train’s engineer has tragically passed away.
“Updated casualty data: 3 people confirmed dead, including the train engineer, assistant engineer, and a KAI employee due to the position of the engineer’s cabin right behind the generator car, so it was hit by the generator car,” they wrote.
Meanwhile, when contacted by CNNIndonesia TV, Vice President Public Relations of PT Kereta Api Indonesia, Joni Martinus, explained that they cannot confirm the number of casualties at this time.
At a different moment, the Head of the Bandung Police, Commissioner Pol Kusworo Wibowo, mentioned that the engineer and assistant engineer are still in critical condition.
“So far, we haven’t provided information on how many, whether there are casualties in this accident. Currently, we are still conducting rescue efforts. We focus on the safety of the two trains,” said Joni.
The collision between Turangga Train and Commuter Line Bandung Raya occurred between Haurpugur Station and Cicalengka Station, precisely at Km 181.
