1Berita English – The construction of two Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines in Bandung, namely Leuwipanjang-Tegalluar and Leuwipanjang-Dago (north-south), is estimated to cost up to Rp 20 trillion.
The acting secretary (Plh) of West Java Province, Mohammad Taufiq Budi Santoso, stated in Bandung on Tuesday that the development plan for the two LRT segments is still in progress, particularly in the document completion stage. This includes the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the central government through the Ministry of Finance regarding development funding.
“LRT, hopefully, we’re managing the timing for the signing of the overarching agreement with the Ministry of Finance. It would be better if Acting Governor (Bey Machmudin) conveys it. The priority is the north-south route, followed by Leuwipanjang-Tegalluar, with a budget of Rp 20 trillion for these two segments,” Taufiq said.
Furthermore, Taufiq mentioned that the LRT transportation mode is projected to be integrated with the High-Speed Rail Jakarta-Bandung (KCJB) Whoosh service. Therefore, efforts are being made to involve various parties, including the private sector, through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme, with the hope of accelerating the construction.
“Funding is supported by the state budget through the Ministry of Finance. There are several documents that need to be prepared. We want to combine (funding sources) for LRT with PPP,” he stated.
The LRT, which serves as a feeder mode for KCJB Whoosh and mass transportation in the city of Bandung, is expected to commence construction no later than 2027.
