1Berita – The capital of Israel, Tel Aviv, reportedly faced a bombardment of 20 rockets from the Hamas resistance group right on the New Year’s celebration on January 1, 2024.

As reported by local Israeli media outlets, out of the 20 rockets fired towards Tel Aviv, 10 were successfully intercepted, as reported via Al Jazeera on Monday (1/1).

According to Al Jazeera’s report, the simultaneous rocket attacks from Gaza were directed towards several cities in Israel. Rocket warning sirens were reported continuously sounding over the city of Tel Aviv, Gush Dan, and the surrounding Gaza region.

Additionally, rocket fragments were found around Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot. However, there were no casualties reported from the rocket impact.

Meanwhile, Israel’s relentless blind aggression in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, over the past three months, has reportedly destroyed approximately 70 percent of homes in the besieged area.

According to a Wall Street Journal report on Friday (30/12), about 300,000 out of 439,000 homes in Gaza have been destroyed due to Israeli attacks, as revealed through satellite image analysis.

The report also added that around 29,000 bombs were dropped in the region, targeting settlements, Byzantine-era churches, hospitals, shopping centers, and all civil infrastructure. These buildings have been damaged beyond repair.

No further details were provided. However, previous reports stated that more than 200 archaeological heritage sites were destroyed in what is considered the most damaging Israeli bombing in modern history.

Israel’s attacks are also deemed to have caused more damage than other cities worldwide, surpassing the destruction of Aleppo in Syria between 2012 and 2016, Mariupol in Ukraine, or the Allied bombings of Germany during World War II.

This Israeli assault is also considered to have killed more civilians than the actions of the U.S.-led coalition during its three-year campaign against the ISIS group.

“They are now at the top of the list for the most powerful bombings ever,” said political scientist Robert Pape from the University of Chicago, as reported via Al Jazeera on Sunday (31/12).

Military aggression by Israel in Gaza, experts say, is also among the deadliest in history. The aggression has claimed the lives of over 21,500 people and injured 55,000. Over 1,000 children have had limbs amputated as a result of Israeli attacks since October 7.

The Israeli military claims to have targeted Hamas fighters, who launched attacks in Israel on October 7. Approximately 1,200 people died in the attacks that triggered the current phase of the conflict.

However, experts criticize Israel for bombing the Gaza Strip, one of the most densely populated areas globally, housing 2.3 million people in an area of 365 square kilometers.

On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that there would be no peace until the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, is destroyed. Netanyahu made this statement in an opinion piece released by the Wall Street Journal on Monday night (25/12). “Hamas must be destroyed, Gaza must be demilitarized, and Palestinian society must be deradicalized. These are the three prerequisites for peace between Israel and its neighbor, Palestine, in Gaza,” said Netanyahu.
