1Berita News – A Sumatran tiger was recorded crossing the roadside of the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (TNBBS) forest area in Lampung on Friday (9/2/2024) night. The video captured by a resident went viral on social media.
In the 1 minute and 6 seconds video received by detikSumbagsel on Saturday (10/2/2024), the wild animal known scientifically as Panthera Tigris Sumatrae was seen observing the recording car before eventually crossing the road.
The recorder stated that the tiger sighting occurred in the Sedayu District, Tanggamus Regency, Lampung Province.
“This is a Sumatran tiger, genuine, this is in the area. It gives me goosebumps, towards Krui. Be careful for those passing through Sedayu,” said the video recorder.
When asked about it, the Head of the Conservation Section of Region III Lampung BKSDA Bengkulu, Joko Susilo, stated that they had taken mitigation measures regarding the appearance of the tiger.
“We have confirmed the source of the video through the Head of the Pemerihan Resort of the TNBBS, that the location is not in Sedayu as narrated in the video, but the tiger’s appearance was on the West Sanggi Cross Road in Bengkunat Pemerihan District, West Coast, Lampung,” he said, on Saturday (10/2/2024).
According to Joko, they have dispatched a team to the location to follow up on the circulating video.
“We are still awaiting updates from the team on the ground, and subsequently appropriate mitigation measures will be taken for the Sumatran tiger,” he concluded.
