1Berita – Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, visited the site of the train collision in Cicalengka, Bandung Regency, on Friday (5/1). The authorities are preparing six hospitals to accommodate the accident victims.
“All passengers have been successfully evacuated. We are preparing 6 hospitals, RSUD Cicalengka, Puskesmas Cicalengka, Puskesmas Rancaekek, RS AMC, RS Harapan Keluarga, and RSKK,” said Bey at the scene on Friday.
The accident occurred between Turangga Train with travel number 65A and Commuter Line Bandung Raya Train with travel number 350 destined for Padalarang-Cicalengka on the track between Cicalengka-Haurpugur at kilometer 181, Bandung Regency.
Bey mentioned that Turangga Train carried 287 passengers, while the Commuter Line train carried 191 passengers.
Bey has not been able to conclude the cause of the accident yet. He is waiting for the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) to conduct an investigation.
“As for the cause of the accident, we are still waiting for KNKT,” he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of West Java Regional Police, Commissioner Pol Ibrahim Tompo, mentioned that there were fatalities in the incident.
“28 injuries, three deaths. That is preliminary data; some of the deceased are still being evacuated. Other passengers have already been evacuated,” said Ibrahim at the same location.
“New information suggests that there are carriages lying across that cannot be observed yet,” he added.
Meanwhile, Vice President Public Relations of PT KAI, Joni Martinus, who is also at the scene, stated that the railway track cannot be used at the moment.
“Because for the time being, this track cannot be used, so all trains traveling from Bandung to the southern part like Bandung Tasikmalaya Banjar, their journeys have not been evacuated using a turning operation pattern, meaning turning northward from Bandung towards Cikampek, Cirebon, Purwokerto, and Kroya. While waiting for this evacuation, and we hope this evacuation can be immediately normalized so that the trains can run as usual,” Joni explained.
