1Berita News – Presidential candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo, urges the supporting parties of the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair in the DPR to initiate a parliamentary inquiry to investigate allegations of fraud in the 2024 election.

He admitted to proposing the idea of a parliamentary inquiry to his supporting parties in the DPR, the PDIP, and the PPP. However, the proposal needs substantial support from other parties to meet the requirement of more than 50 percent of the council members.

“That’s why we need to open communication channels with the supporting parties of Anies-Muhaimin,” Ganjar said, as quoted from a statement by the TPN Ganjar-Mahfud, on Monday (19/2).

The Anies-Muhaimin camp welcomed Ganjar’s invitation. Presidential candidate Anies mentioned that three parties in the Coalition for Change, namely the PKS, PKB, and NasDem, are ready to participate and facilitate the initiative in the DPR.

“I am confident that the parties in the Coalition for Change are ready to be a part of it,” said Anies at the Yusuf Building Law Firm, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (20/2).

Similarly, vice presidential candidate and Chairman of PKB Muhaimin Iskandar, also known as Cak Imin, stated that he is ready to pursue it in the DPR.

    “Ready,” he replied succinctly.

Parliamentary Inquiry A parliamentary inquiry is one of the rights of DPR members to investigate the implementation of a law/government policy related to important, strategic, and widely impactful matters in societal, national, and state life suspected of being contrary to the legislation.

Referring to Law Number 17 of 2014 concerning the MPR, DPR, DPRD, and DPD (MD3), a parliamentary inquiry needs to be proposed by at least 25 DPR members and more than one faction.

The proposal for a parliamentary inquiry is submitted by the proposer to the DPR leadership.

The proposal will only officially become a parliamentary inquiry of the DPR if it receives approval from a plenary session attended by more than one half of the total number of DPR members, and the decision is made through the approval of more than one half of the total number of DPR members present.

Subsequently, the DPR decides whether to accept or reject the proposal for a parliamentary inquiry. If accepted, the DPR will establish a special committee composed of all faction representatives. However, if the DPR rejects it, the proposal for a parliamentary inquiry cannot be resubmitted.
