1Berita – As the peak of the New Year’s Eve celebration approaches, focused around the Losari Beach Pavilion in Makassar, South Sulawesi, several road sections will be closed.
“Considering the potential risks during the busy New Year’s Eve celebration, the community will be concentrated around the Losari Beach Pavilion and the Center Point of Indonesia (CPI) area,” stated Kombes Pol Mokhamad Ngajib, the Chief of the Makassar Metropolitan Police, in his statement on Saturday (30/12).
He revealed that several road points leading to Losari Beach would be closed.
“Some of the closed routes include Jenderal Sudirman Street, RA Kartini Street, Haji Bau Street, Ratulangi Street, Kakatua Street, Botolempangan Street, Sultan Hasanuddin Street, Arief Rate Street, Lamadukelleng Street, and Datuk Museng Street,” he explained.
Ngajib emphasized that the road closures leading to the Losari Beach Pavilion would begin at 5:00 PM WITA.
“We have prepared parking areas closest to the New Year’s Eve celebration location so that people can walk to the venue easily,” he clarified.
Ngajib affirmed strict actions against citizens engaging in convoy activities on New Year’s Eve and those setting off fireworks.
“We strongly advise against community convoys on New Year’s Eve due to the risk of traffic jams and accidents. The use of fireworks is also prohibited,” he concluded.
