1Berita News – The Mayor of Medan, Muhammad Bobby Nasution, has invited the Indonesian National Army – Army (TNI-AD) to collaborate in addressing the issue of flooding in his region, particularly by focusing on the river normalization that runs through the city of Medan.
Bobby conveyed this collaboration request during his visit to the Indonesian Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) office in Jakarta, where he was welcomed by General Dudung Abdurachman. During the visit, Bobby expressed his hope that the TNI-AD could contribute to maximizing river normalization to reduce the risk of floods.
In a positive response, KSAD Dudung Abdurachman fully supported Bobby’s proposed plan for the normalization of the Deli River spanning 32 kilometers.
KSAD also instructed TNI-AD personnel to directly participate in these activities.
Bobby mentioned that the normalization activities would not only involve manpower from the TNI-AD but also heavy equipment that would be lent by the military. The normalization process is scheduled to commence at the end of September 2023 and is planned to last for 64 working days.
The Mayor of Medan hopes that these normalization activities will help mitigate the risk of flooding in the city. He stated that the opening ceremony for the normalization activities would be led directly by KSAD Dudung Abdurachman in Medan on September 27, 2023.
