1Berita News – President Joko Widodo’s initiative to build the Memorial Park Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) reflects a significant commitment to honoring the contributions of the nation’s heroes.
With a substantial budget of Rp361 billion or 23,15 million USD, the memorial is being constructed on a 2,034 square meter plot and is expected to be completed by August 2024. The purpose of the Memorial Park is to pay tribute to the founding fathers and heroes who played a pivotal role in the struggle for Indonesia’s independence.
President Jokowi emphasized the importance of remembering and acknowledging the sacrifices made by these individuals for the nation.
The design of the Memorial Park IKN incorporates various elements, including an altar, stairs, infrastructure, and landscaping, creating a space that integrates with the larger Beranda Nusantara area. President Jokowi envisions the memorial as a key attraction in the new capital city, serving not only as a place for reflection but also as a venue for hosting state guests.
The symbolic act of laying flowers by foreign dignitaries at the Memorial Park during official visits further underscores its significance as a national monument.
Furthermore, the Memorial Park is part of a broader development plan for the new capital city, as evidenced by President Jokowi’s groundbreaking for various infrastructures in the IKN area. These include the Jambuluwuk Nusantara Hotel, Nusantara Logistic Hub, Masjid Negara, and the Office of the IKN Authority.
The president’s commitment to overseeing the construction of these facilities demonstrates a comprehensive approach to building a modern and functional capital city.
In addition to the Memorial Park, President Jokowi also highlights the importance of the IKN as a whole, emphasizing its role as a center for national activities, including hosting state guests and events.
The development of a National Team training center funded by FIFA Forward grants further diversifies the functions of the new capital. Overall, these initiatives signify a concerted effort by the government to create a symbolic and functional space that reflects the nation’s history and aspirations in the new capital city.
