1Berita News – The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of DKI Jakarta urges residents of the capital to be vigilant against extreme weather expected to occur from today, Monday (29/1) until February 1, 2024.
“People are advised to remain vigilant and prepared to anticipate the impacts of extreme weather,” said the Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta, Isnawa Adji, in his statement.
Isnawa stated that the prediction of extreme weather is based on analysis conducted by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
“The latest analysis indicates the potential for increased rainfall of moderate to heavy intensity from January 29 to February 1, 2024, in the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings,” he said.
He explained that the increase in moderate to heavy rainfall is triggered by the activity of the Asian Monsoon accompanied by the potential for cold surges.
This affects the increase in moist air masses in the western and southern parts of the equatorial region of Indonesia.
“The ongoing activity of Rossby and Kelvin equatorial waves around the central part of Indonesia also triggers the formation of rain clouds, as well as the formation of bending patterns and the convergence of winds extending south of the equator as a result of the strengthening of the Asian Monsoon winds,” explained Isnawa.
