1Berita News – The Indonesian National Police Headquarters asserts that the circulating video on social media alleging the lack of neutrality of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in the 2024 elections is misleading information or a hoax.

This was emphasized by the Head of the Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, in a written statement on Sunday (11/2).

Sandi stated that this was in response to a viral video clip stating that Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo ordered the Director of Community Development (Dirbinmas) of each regional police without a secret telegram (STR) and only through telephone calls to the regional police chiefs.

The video clip recorded statements made by PDIP politician Herny Yosodiningrat in a discussion forum, claiming there was an order to the Director of Community Development (Dirbinmas) of each regional police to support the victory of one of the presidential candidate pairs in the 2024 election. The Indonesian National Police Headquarters also confirms that as misinformation or a hoax.

“Regarding the information, it is not true or a hoax, and since last week, the police have also provided a signed statement regarding the hoax on social media,” Sandi said.

Sandi urged the public not to believe information circulating on social media without first verifying it.

“The public should not be swayed by unclear information and should not spread false information or hoaxes,” he said.

On this occasion, Sandi emphasized that the police would remain neutral in ensuring that the 2024 elections are conducted safely, peacefully, and dignified. He continued to stress that neutrality is a principle firmly held and committed to by the Indonesian National Police throughout the 2024 election process, including presidential, legislative, and later regional elections.

“Repeatedly, the Police Chief has stated that the police are neutral in the conduct of elections. The police are tasked with ensuring that the 2024 elections are conducted peacefully, calmly, coolly, and dignified,” he said.

Previously, in a viral video clip in a forum, Henry disclosed five allegations of the police chief’s lack of neutrality.

Firstly, the Police Chief is said to have ordered the deployment of the police community development function as an election-winning instrument. Second, the door-to-door system by police officers cannot be used anymore. Third, it is ordered to deploy religious preachers to utilize places of worship as a platform for managing and ensuring support for one of the presidential candidates.

Additionally, fourth, the Police Chief is also said to have requested the control of religious preachers by providing each of them with a new mobile phone with a foreign SIM card number and a mobile internet modem.

Lastly, fifth, asking for financial assistance from BUJP (Security Service Business Entities) entrepreneurs who are colleagues of the Community Development Directorate in their respective areas.

In the viral video, Henry stated that he was ready to be accountable for his statements and hoped that the Police Chief could clarify the circulating information.

“If this is indeed a hoax, I ask the Police Chief to provide clarification because maybe the meeting did not happen, but there are orders through other channels, certainly corrupt channels,” he said in the recording.

“So I can be accountable because I received this in many WhatsApp groups, so it’s not something I made up. But if I am to be summoned by the Police Criminal Investigation Department or the Police Chief, I am ready,” added the man, who is also known as a lawyer and anti-drug activist.

CNNIndonesia has not yet received a new official statement from Henry regarding the Indonesian National Police Headquarters’ rebuttal.
