1Berita – Presidential and vice-presidential candidate, Ganjar Pranowo–Mahfud MD, reaffirmed their commitment to improve the welfare of farmers and fishermen. One concrete step promised is the debt relief and resolution of overdue credits faced by these groups.
Mahfud MD expressed this commitment during a meeting with 10,000 fishermen and farmers in Muncar, Banyuwangi, on Friday (29/12). He emphasized that the welfare of farmers and fishermen would be the top priority in their government agenda with Ganjar.
“Fishermen and farmers must be prioritized by the state for advancement. Ganjar-Mahfud is ready to provide debt relief or clear overdue credits for all fishermen and farmers across Indonesia. We will take this step to make fishermen and farmers more productive, work more advanced, and prosperous,” he said in a written statement on Sunday (31/12).
The former chairman of the Constitutional Court revealed that the total overdue credit for fishermen is currently around IDR 186 billion. Meanwhile, overdue credit for farmers amounts to IDR 600 billion.
These overdue credits will be cleared or forgiven by Ganjar-Mahfud so that farmers and fishermen do not have debts to the state.
“The total overdue credit for fishermen is 186 billion. Later, we will try to clear it, so that the fishermen no longer have debts to the state. The overdue credit for farmers now reaches 600 billion. We will also clear it, so that farmers can work more comfortably,” Mahfud said.
Mahfud also emphasized that fishermen and farmers would be the primary targets for assistance by Ganjar-Mahfud towards prosperity and a more decent life.
