1Berita – Vice Presidential candidate number 1, Muhaimin Iskandar, or Cak Imin, uploaded a snippet of a video featuring a statement from the former Chairman of PWNU East Java, KH Marzuki Mustamar. In the video, Marzuki mentioned that many prominent pesantrens (Islamic boarding schools) support the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN) pair in the 2024 presidential election.
Cak Imin shared the video on his personal social media account @cakiminnow.
“Perintah Sendiko Yai..!” tweeted Cak Imin in response to the video snippet.
In the video, Marzuki Mustamar is seen speaking in Javanese. Essentially, Marzuki explained that there is no prohibition against choosing the AMIN pair because many prominent pesantrens also support AMIN.

Marzuki Mustamar’s name has recently gained attention as the Nahdlatul Ulama Central Board (PBNU) has removed him from the position of Chairman of the East Java NU Regional Board (PWNU). PBNU Vice Chairman Amin Said Husni emphasized that Marzuki Mustamar’s dismissal is an internal organizational matter and should not be exaggerated, especially when linked to practical politics ahead of the 2024 elections.
On the other hand, Marzuki claimed to be unaware of the issue regarding support for specific candidate pairs. He stated that he still adheres to the message of PBNU Chairman Yahya Cholil Staquf or Gus Yahya, who declared that the NU structure or officials should remain neutral in the 2024 elections.
