1Berita English – Alaska Airlines Plane Carrying 177 Passengers Makes Emergency Landing in the State of Oregon, United States, After Aircraft Window Panel Shatters Shortly After Takeoff.

According to AFP reports, flight number 1282 departed from Portland International Airport at around 5:00 PM on Friday (1/5) local time.

The plane returned to the runway after the crew reported a problem with air pressure.

In photos circulating on social media, the aircraft’s window panel is seen exploding, and emergency oxygen masks hang from the cabin ceiling.

“It was really sudden. Just after reaching altitude, the window/wall just came off, and I didn’t realize it until the oxygen mask came off,” said a passenger named Kyle Rinker.

Following the incident, Alaska Airlines decided to temporarily halt all flights with Boeing 737-9 aircraft.

“Following tonight’s incident on flight number 1282, we have decided to take precautionary measures by temporarily suspending 65 Boeing 737-9 aircraft in our fleet,” said Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci.

“All aircraft will return to serving passengers after full maintenance and safety inspections,” he added.

The National Transportation Safety Board, FAA, and Alaska Airlines are each investigating the incident.

“The aircraft landed safely back at Portland International Airport with 171 passengers and 6 crew members,” the airline stated.

“Although incidents like these are rare, our flight crews are trained and prepared to handle such situations safely,” the statement continued.
