1Berita News – Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto, even though there has not been a final count from the General Election Commission (KPU).
Putin reminded Prabowo of the strong relationship between Russia and Indonesia so far.
Prabowo himself has recently won decisively according to the quick count results from several survey institutions.
Putin’s congratulations to Prabowo were conveyed on the official Kremlin website.
“Dear Mr. Prabowo Subianto, please accept my sincere congratulations on your convincing victory in the presidential election,” Putin’s message quoted by the Russian government media TASS on Friday (16/2) stated.
The relationship between the Republic of Indonesia and the Russian Federation, he continued, is based on sincere principles of friendship and mutual respect.
Putin also stated that the relationship between the two countries continues to grow in various fields of cooperation, creating even closer cooperation.
In his statement, Putin believed that Prabowo’s activities as head of state would contribute to the enhancement of Indonesia-Russia cooperation.
He also believed that if Prabowo leads in the future, he would play a significant role in strengthening security and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.
“I rely on constructive dialogue with you and beneficial cooperation on topical issues on the bilateral and international agenda,” Putin said.
The Russian President then prayed for Prabowo’s health and prosperity.
Previously, several heads of state had also congratulated Prabowo.
They are Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Singaporean PM Lee Hsien Loong, Australian PM Anthony Albanese, and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Indonesia has held elections, including electing presidential and vice-presidential candidates, on Wednesday (14/2).
In this election, Prabowo and his running mate Gibran Rakabuming emerged as the clear winners according to quick count results from survey institutions.
Several survey institutions reported that Prabowo-Gibran obtained more than 57 percent of the votes from around 90 percent of the sample votes received.
Meanwhile, according to the KPU’s real count as of Friday at 19:55, Prabowo garnered 57 percent of the votes out of 60.49 percent of the votes received.
