1Berita News – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) once again highlights the issue of traffic congestion, particularly in major cities. He even states that this problem could cause significant financial losses for Indonesia.

He mentioned that Indonesia suffers losses of almost Rp 100 trillion annually. Jokowi made these remarks during the inauguration of the Banjar Terminal in Banjar City and the Leuwipanjang Terminal in Bandung City earlier today.

“For example, in Jakarta and Jabodetabek alone, we lose almost Rp 100 trillion due to traffic congestion each year. Traffic congestion is felt in all cities,” said Jokowi at the Leuwipanjang Terminal on Saturday (2/3/2024).

Therefore, Jokowi stated that the government continues to develop public transportation infrastructure facilities such as stations, airports, and bus terminals. It is hoped that with this development, people will switch from private vehicles to public transportation.

“I highly appreciate this development, and hopefully, we can encourage people to use public transportation again, be it buses, trains, or in Jakarta, the MRT, LRT, KRL, high-speed trains, which will greatly reduce traffic congestion on our roads,” he explained.

“Hopefully, the Leuwipanjang Terminal and Banjar Terminal in West Java Province can accelerate people’s mobility from one city to another or within the city,” Jokowi added.

For your information, the revitalization of the Leuwipanjang Terminal and Banjar Terminal in West Java required a total budget of Rp 147 billion. The construction was carried out gradually from 2020 to 2024.
