1Berita English – Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, Zuhair Al-Shun, criticized the United Nations (UN) for not doing much about the genocide committed by Israel against the people of Gaza.

Zuhair believes that the UN has failed to stop the genocide in Palestine. He also mentioned that the UN is submissive to the directives of the United States.

“In my opinion, the UN has failed to stop the war; the United States controls the UN. That’s why there is no hope for the UN,” said Zuhair at the Palestinian Embassy in Jakarta on Saturday (13/1).

Zuhair then questioned the function of the UN as an international organization. He pointed out that the organization, established after World War II, is tasked with maintaining world peace.

“But why are they absent in Palestine? Is this the policy of the US? Controlling the UN? That’s why until now, it seems they are unable to do anything. They are unable to press or ask Israel to withdraw its troops,” he explained.

Furthermore, Zuhair expressed hope that more people worldwide would urge their leaders to press Israel to stop the ongoing genocide.

“There should be more movements from the international community to urge their leaders to take action and policies against Israel,” he said.

The Israeli aggression against Gaza continues. A total of 23,708 people have been reported killed in Gaza, with the majority of casualties being women and children.

Amid growing concerns about Israel’s aggression in Gaza, the United States and British forces launched attacks on the Houthi militia.

The attacks were carried out in response to the Houthi targeting ships in the Red Sea to defend Gaza.
