1Berita – Anies Baswedan, has declared his intention to discuss the Rohingya refugee issue landing in Indonesia during the upcoming presidential debate scheduled for this Sunday (7/1).
“We will discuss it together this Sunday,” Anies stated at the Ciamis Islamic Centre in Kabupaten Ciamis on Thursday (4/1).
The influx of Rohingya refugees to Indonesia is related to the ongoing ethnic conflict in Myanmar. However, their arrival has sparked various controversies in society.
One instance involves a group of students who forcibly expelled Rohingya refugees on December 27th of last year. These students, hailing from Al Washliyah University, Abulyatama University, and Bina Bangsa Getsempena, staged a demonstration at the Balee Meuseuraya Aceh (BMA) building to reject the refugees’ arrival and expel them.
The third presidential debate, organized by the General Election Commission (KPU), will take place at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, featuring three presidential candidates. It marks the second time the candidates will present their ideas on the debate stage.
The themes for this debate include Defense, Security, International Relations, Globalization, Geopolitics, and Foreign Politics. KPU has appointed 11 panelists for this debate.
Ariyo Ardi and Anisha Dasuki, journalists from the MNC Group, have been designated as the moderators for the third presidential debate of the 2024 election. In a new development, KPU will provide time for moderators to ask candidates for the expansion of abbreviations or acronyms in their questions, aiming to enhance the clarity of the debate’s substance.
