1Berita – The Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) deploys 3,180 cleanliness personnel, consisting of garbage truck drivers, crews, and sweeping teams, on New Year’s Eve 2024, Sunday (31/12) night.

Asep Kuswanto, the Head of the Jakarta Environmental Agency, stated that they aim to have the entire Jakarta area free from celebration remnants by Monday (1/1) dawn.

“We are deploying 3,180 cleanliness personnel, including garbage truck drivers, crews, and sweeping teams,” he said in a written statement on Friday (29/12).

In addition, DLH Jakarta also mobilizes additional personnel from the Water Supply Agency (UPS Badan Air) to assist on land and collaborates with the Sub-district Cleaning and Gardening Service (PPSU) in their respective areas.

Asep explained that thousands of personnel have been on standby since Sunday (31/12) afternoon. They will start the cleaning activities before and during the main New Year’s Eve event until it is targeted to be completed by 05:00 AM. Personnel will remain on standby until all garbage is handled.

“After the peak of the New Year’s transition has passed and the main event is finished, personnel will immediately move to each location. The entire Environmental Service of each region will hold a coordination briefing to check the readiness of the personnel,” Asep said.

Asep revealed that the garbage management on New Year’s Eve 2024 will be conducted at 25 points in five administrative regions of the City and the Administrative District of Thousand Islands.

“At the peak of the New Year’s celebration event on Sudirman-Thamrin and Monas, we specifically deploy 500 personnel with facilities including 10 garbage transport trucks, 10 toilet buses, and 20 road sweepers to handle garbage before, during, and after the event,” he added.

Asep urged all building managers along Sudirman-Thamrin to open access to toilets in their lobbies or ground floors.

“Hundreds of thousands of people visiting the Festival of Young Night will need toilets. We hope that building managers along Sudirman-Thamrin can open their access to the general public,” said Asep.

Asep claimed to have instructed all Sub-District Environmental Services and Units in charge of Environmental Affairs at each district to anticipate cleanliness management at each New Year’s transition location in their respective areas.

He said that DLH Jakarta not only deploys personnel and facilities such as toilet buses, garbage transport trucks, and road sweepers. However, cleanliness supervisors will also patrol the entire Jakarta area using double-cabin pickups, mini dump trucks, and trail motorcycles.

“They will ensure that cleanliness management proceeds well throughout Jakarta,” said Asep.
