1Berita – Spain declares its support for recognizing Palestine as an independent state “in the near future.” Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares made this statement in an interview with the national radio RNE on Thursday (11/23).
Albares mentioned that Spain supports the recognition of Palestine as an equal and deserving state “in the near future.”
“The existence of the Palestinian state would be the best guarantee for peace in the Middle East,” Albares said, as quoted by Reuters.
During the interview, Albares also outlined Spain’s readiness to get involved in resolving the Israel-Palestine conflict and to organize a peace conference on this matter.
Albares’ statement comes amid Israel’s aggression against Palestine, which has been ongoing since October 7 as a result of its conflict with the Hamas militia.
Although Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire on Wednesday (11/22), the implementation of the four-day truce is delayed due to some unclear issues from both sides.
Moreover, despite the ceasefire agreement, Israel continues to bombard Gaza, including schools, refugee camps, and hospitals, without mercy.
As of Wednesday (11/22), the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that the death toll from Israel’s aggression had reached 14,128 people. Among the casualties, 5,600 are children, and 3,550 are women.
Additionally, around 33,000 people have been injured due to Israel’s aggression, triggered by Hamas’ attacks on October 7.
